Supervisor: Devon Herbert, MS, RTC
Coordinator: Corrin Rakowski, MS, CTRS

The Therapeutic Recreation (TR) Unit provides inclusive, year-round programs for individuals with disabilities—no formal diagnosis required. Designed by trained staff, these programs promote physical, cognitive, and social development through activities such as swim lessons, camps, arts, sports, social skills classes, and special events. Offered on weekdays, evenings, and weekends, programs feature customized staff-to-participant ratios and are detailed in CRPD Program Guides and TR brochures. Many have earned awards for excellence in disability recreation.

Participation may lead to benefits such as improved social and communication skills, higher self-esteem, increased independence, better physical and functional abilities, reduced stress, and more meaningful use of leisure time. These outcomes vary by individual and are strengthened by ongoing communication with TR staff and support from volunteers.

Advisory Council

The Conejo Valley Therapeutic Advisory Committee (CVTAC) provides advocacy, financial and volunteer support to Therapeutic Recreation Services. Members of this working committee represent various aspects of the special populations served by the Therapeutic Recreation Unit and help to guide the direction of the Therapeutic Recreation Unit. Guests or new members are always welcome. Please contact the Therapeutic Recreation Unit office for Committee meeting information.
