The original Goebel Center, named in honor of Louis Goebel, opened its doors in 1975, situated on a portion of the land that once housed the renowned Goebel's Jungleland. This property was graciously donated to the City of Thousand Oaks by the Louis Goebel family. Before its inauguration, a Joint Powers Agreement was established between the City of Thousand Oaks and the Conejo Recreation and Park District (CRPD), granting CRPD the authority to manage the Goebel Adult Community Center. Today, the Goebel Adult Community Center has evolved into a spacious, vibrant, and contemporary community hub for older adults, located on Janss Road. It offers recreation classes, special events, social services, day-trip excursions, and a variety of drop-in programs for senior adults. This full-service facility spans 21,000 square feet and features outdoor fitness equipment, a computer lab, meeting rooms, the Goebel Café, a billiards room, a lending library, horseshoe pits, and much more!
